  1. At the beginning of Malcolm Gladwell’s book Outliers, he talks about a village in Italy that has the best health record of any place in the world. The people there aren’t all ex-sports stars, often they are overweight, some smoke, and most don’t do much exercise. But what they do have is a really excellent and supportive community. Feeling contented and safe, with friends and family around you who will help out in times of need turns out to be one of the biggest factors in good health and longevity. I quite believe it – feeling miserable is the quickest route to falling ill.
