  1. Oh, wow, wow, I had no idea this was happening. I am totally beguiled by these books. I guess it’s a bit like with the Stieg Larsson books – you could, if you wanted, get all cynical about their transparent project to use populist fiction as a vehicle for a progressive and feminist agenda, but you just can’t – well, I can’t. I just adore them. Thank you so much for the link!

  2. You’re welcome. I love fiction that espouses a feminist progressive agenda. Every sort of writing comes out of some perspective, explicit or implicit. And there is plenty of fiction that supports the status quo or hearkens back to a more conservative ideal. Why not feminist and progressive!

  3. That’s pretty much how I feel. I suppose if I didn’t have a taste for a good old, compulsive pot-boiler, and all the more so when its heart is emphatically in the right place, I might feel differently, as some of my friends seem to… Anyway, I find the world a much better place for Jean Auel’s books. All the many, many hours I have spent reading them have been happy ones – and I’ve just ordered the new one.
