*This Made Me Laugh

However in 1957, it wasn’t a piece of crap–it lasted! Our clothes drier just died. Plastic here we come.

  1. My mixer just died. I’m looking for a not-piece-of-crap.It only lasted 17 years, and those kind (KitchenAid) are supposed to last 30 years or so. And it’s the holidays. How does one live without a mixer during the holidays? Hopefully the next one will last longer!

  2. So true! Btw those Kitchen Aid mixers *used* to last 35 years. If you check reviews online, now they usually need a $150 repair a few months after the one year warranty is up. It’s a plastic part inside it now and it starts to leak oil into the food.

I got a Cuisinart stand mixer as it has I think a 3 year warranty at least so if it’s plastic parts wear out after a year I can get a replacement.

It sucks that it’s often cheaper to replace something than repair it. I have read online about people replacing their printers when they run out of ink because sometimes the printer with the first ink cartridges are cheaper than the ink cartridges later cost. Crazy that anyone would do that.
